[ARCHIVED] Emergency Preparedness in Snowmass Village

The Town of Snowmass Village encourages all residents and guests to familiarize themselves with emergency preparedness materials made available through Pitkin County.

Snowmass Village is committed to the safety and preparedness of both residents and visitors. Local officials and emergency response teams have introduced new initiatives to ensure that the community is ready to respond to any situation that may arise.

As part of the village's emergency preparedness strategy, residents and businesses are encouraged to take proactive steps toward readiness. This includes familiarizing themselves with emergency evacuation plans, creating personal emergency kits, and staying informed on the latest weather updates and potential hazards. Our partners at Pitkin County make emergency preparedness easy – Pitkin Emergency has resources for residents and guests to help prepare for emergencies

“We’re committed to ensuring that Snowmass Village is as safe and prepared as possible in the event of an emergency,” said Brian Olson, Police Chief. “Our goal is to not only protect those who live and work here but to ensure that visitors also have the information and resources they need to stay safe in Snowmass Village.”

Snowmass Village residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency notifications, keep emergency kits stocked, and familiarize themselves with local resources:

  • Emergency Notifications – Pitkin Alert is an emergency notification system that alerts residents and business owners through text messages, email, cell or landline phones. In the event of a wildfire incident, Pitkin Alert will send you up-to-date notifications about the fire, associated road closures, and evacuation orders. You must register for the free alerts at PitkinAlert.org.
  • Preparedness Materials – Your wildfire emergency plan must be prepared well in advance of a fire and shared with all members of your household. Use the checklists provided by Pitkin County to help you prepare your family for a wildfire emergency.
