Today, the Town of Snowmass Village announced the retirement of Public Works Director Hunt Walker, effective June 28, 2013.
Walker joined Town staff in 1979, and became the Public Works Director in 1981. As Public Works Director, he managed an interdisciplinary department comprised of five service divisions and more than two dozen staff members.
“Under Hunt’s direction, the Public Works Department was able to successfully complete a number complex projects that required the cooperation of various stakeholders,” said Russ Forrest, Snowmass Village Town Manger. “He will leave behind an exceptional staff highly capable of providing a high level of service to the community.”
During his 34-year tenure, Walker oversaw numerous projects that have a measurable and lasting impact on the community. Most notable include the Snowmass Village Recreation Center and Town Park, and the development of the Town’s Public Works facility—including offices and shops.
“It has been a pleasure serving the Snowmass Village Community for over three decades,” Walker said. “There have been so many projects that I’ve worked on and relationships that I’ve built that have been incredibly rewarding.”
The Town will begin the process of filling the Public Works Director position through a national search.
