The Town of Snowmass Village celebrates the launch of a new electric vehicle charging bank at Town Hall.
Snowmass Village is excited to announce that the new Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers at Town Hall are officially online, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing EV Charging Infrastructure Project that began in May 2022. This initiative is part of the Village’s commitment to providing sustainable transportation options and supporting the growing demand for EV charging.
As part of this project, two types of chargers have been installed at the Town Hall location to serve the needs of the community and visitors:
- ChargePoint CT6000 Level 2 2-Port Charger
- ChargePoint 80 kW CPE280 DC Fast Charger (DCFC)
In addition to the chargers, Holy Cross Energy installed a new transformer to ensure adequate power supply to support the increased electrical load required for the new charging stations.
“We are thrilled to officially bring these EV chargers online today,” said Mike Glock, Parking Manager. “This project represents a crucial step forward in our effort to provide reliable, convenient charging options while reducing our carbon footprint. We are proud to partner with Charge Ahead Colorado and Holy Cross Energy to bring this vision to life.”
The total cost of the project was $213,651, which was offset by significant support in the form of grants and contributions:
- $44,000 in grant funding from Charge Ahead Colorado
- $24,000 from Holy Cross Energy’s Community Energy Systems contribution
Starting today, the EV stations will be available for use at the following rates:
- Level 2 Charger: $0.14 per kWh, with an additional $5/hr fee after 6 hours of use
- DC Fast Charger: $0.14 per kWh, with an additional $5/hr fee after 60 minutes of use
The exact date for the official launch of the rates will be announced publicly in the near future.
The installation of these charging stations is part of Snowmass Village’s broader efforts to promote sustainable energy use and enhance the infrastructure for electric vehicles in the area. The Village continues to prioritize environmentally friendly initiatives to make Snowmass Village an even more eco-conscious and resilient community.
