Thrive Snowmass

Snowmass Village has long been defined by its strong sense of community. While we are proud to be a world-class destination, our long-term success depends first and foremost on being a stable, vibrant, year-round home for the people who live and work here.

Thrive Snowmass is a Town-led initiative designed to ensure that year-round residents can build sustainable, fulfilling lives in our community — not just get by, but truly thrive.

Why This Matters

Our residents are the backbone of Snowmass Village. They contribute to:

  • Our local workforce
  • Civic leadership and volunteerism
  • Small businesses and the local economy
  • The social fabric that makes our community unique

In recent years, however, rising costs have created increasing pressure on residents. Housing affordability, childcare access, grocery prices, homeowner insurance, tax rates, and other essential expenses are placing a strain on families and individuals alike.

At the same time, limited housing supply and capacity constraints in key services are making it more difficult for residents to remain in the community long term.

If we lose our core residents to more affordable areas, we risk undermining the resilience, continuity, and character of Snowmass Village itself.

The Town’s Commitment

In recognition of these challenges, the Town Council adopted its 2025 goal:

Help Year-Round Residents Thrive, Not Just Survive.

This goal prioritizes:

  • Affordability
  • Accessibility
  • Capacity in essential services
  • Long-term community resilience

Thrive Snowmass formalizes that commitment and provides a coordinated framework for action.

The Thrive Advisory Committee

In Snowmass Village, the strength of the community has always been rooted in its residents. The Thrive Advisory Committee (Committee) exists to ensure that this foundation remains strong, recognizing that those who live and work here are able not only to remain in the community, but to thrive in it.

The Committee was formed in response to growing affordability pressures that affect housing, childcare, household expenses, and access to essential services. These challenges are interconnected, and addressing them requires thoughtful coordination, community partnership, and sustained focus. The purpose of the Thrive Advisory Committee is to provide that structure, serving as a bridge between residents, Town staff, and the Town Council to develop practical, community-informed solutions.

The Thrive Advisory Committee exists to advance one central goal: helping all residents thrive, not just survive.

Thriving means more than meeting basic needs. It means having access to stable housing, reliable childcare, attainable everyday goods and services, and a quality of life that allows individuals and families to fully participate in the civic and economic life of Snowmass Village. The Committee’s work shall be grounded in the belief that a world-class destination must first be a stable, inclusive, and resilient year-round community. The Thrive Advisory Committee will deliver a list of recommendations by the end of September 2026.

Areas of Focus

The Thrive Advisory Committee will evaluate and recommend initiatives such as:

  • Housing solutions, including innovative buydown programs
  • Childcare expansion and accessibility
  • Strategies to address rising cost-of-living pressures
  • Support for local businesses that serve year-round residents
  • Collaborative partnerships that reduce cumulative financial strain

The goal is a coordinated, resident-informed approach — not isolated efforts, but integrated solutions that strengthen the community as a whole.

Who Should Apply

The Town Council is seeking a broad and balanced cross-section of the Snowmass Village community. This committee is intended to reflect the lived experiences of the people who make this town function every day.

We encourage applications from:

  • Seniors and long-time residents
  • Young adults and emerging leaders
  • Working professionals and employees
  • Retired community members
  • Parents and caregivers
  • Part-time homeowners
  • Local business owners and managers
  • Teachers and school staff
  • Aspen Skiing Company employees and resort workers
