Fall CompostingCompost Your Fall Leaves
As autumn arrives, the Town of Snowmass continues its tradition of offering our residents a generously-sized container for grass and leaves. We are pleased to announce that the container is now ready for use. In light of the ongoing construction at the Rodeo Grounds, the composting bin designated for fallen leaves has been relocated to the area behind Town Park Station bus depot (located near the electric vehicle (EV) charging stations). The bin will remain in place until the weather permits. This composting bin is for fall leaves ONLY! Details

Mountain View Renovations Near Completion The Housing Department has been busy over the past 18 months renovating and updating the Mountain View Housing complex. This 92-unit workforce housing was built in 1990 and offers affordable studios and 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments in nine buildings. The Housing Office is also located in Mountain View. There have been no major renovations since the property was built 33 years ago. The buildings have all received significant exterior upgrades. New siding has transformed the look of the buildings to resemble townhouses and has replaced the old deteriorated wood siding with new composite board, stucco, specialized wood, and corrugated metal. All original windows and doors have been replaced to provide energy savings and better ventilation and airflow. Ventilation has also been added throughout the buildings and to each bathroom, and loose-fill insulation has been blown into each attic. The walkways have been tightened and painted, and all deteriorated exterior wood has been replaced. Rehabilitating occupied apartments is difficult under the best of circumstances, and we have been fortunate to have Rudd Construction as our partner on this project. We also want to recognize the partnership of CORE, which provided incentives to increase the buildings’ energy efficiency. All work will be substantially completed by Thanksgiving. Come up to Deerfield Drive and see what we have been up to!

Saving Energy in Snowmass Recently, CORE granted $50,000 to retrofit the 'Green Goddess' complex at 250 Carriage Way, enhancing its building envelope for greater energy savings. Just as a wool shirt, puffy jacket, and rain shell can regulate your body's temperature, the proper combination of layers in a building's envelope, like insulation, roofing, and windows, can result in up to 15% in energy savings. Apply for up to $50,000 in funding for your energy-saving project on CORE's website by October 25. Since 1994, CORE has been a driving force for climate action, cutting greenhouse gas emissions in our valley. This year, it has already supported more than 140 buildings to boost energy efficiency, including a project with the Town of Snowmass Village. https://www.aspencore.org/

Back to SchoolStop for the School Bus. It's the Law. School is back in session, and the Snowmass Village Police Department watches school buses closely to ensure our children stay safe. Please make sure you do your part, too by driving safely and following the law. Not stopping for a school bus can result in a fine and a penalty of up to six (6) points against your license.
On a two-lane road without a separated median, traffic in both directions is required to stop for the bus. Traffic should begin to stop when the bus lights flash yellow. Traffic must remain stopped while the flashing red lights on the bus are present. Please take a minute and stop for the school bus. You can find details on the school bus stopping law in the Colorado Drivers Handbook.
