Motorists should anticipate construction impacts at the intersection of Brush Creek Road and Owl Creek Road beginning in mid-March and continuing through November. The project includes construction of a new roundabout, roadway improvements, upgraded bus stops, drainage and utility enhancements, and pedestrian and trail connections.

The Town of Snowmass Village will provide updates as the schedule progresses. While most delays are expected to be minor, drivers should plan for periodic lane closures and traffic shifts. Public bus stops at the intersection will close after the chairlifts shut down on April 13 and will reopen in mid-November. As an alternative, passengers can use either the bus stop at Brush Creek Road Faraway Road or at Brush Creek Road and Sinclair Road.

This $8.5 million project follows public outreach that began in mid-2024 to address safety and level-of-service concerns at one of the primary gateways to Snowmass Village. Based on community input and technical analysis, the redesigned intersection will improve traffic flow, pedestrian access, transit facilities, drainage, utilities, and overall roadway safety. The schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change. 

Major phases are outlined below.

Applications are now available for the Town of Snowmass Village sales tax rebate. Qualified applicants may apply for a rebate online.

The Town of Snowmass Village provides a $200 sales tax rebate to all qualified full-time residents each year. This rebate program intends to offset sales tax collected from residents. Rebate checks are mailed to residents. The application must include an appropriate local mailing address.

The 2025 Rebate Application is now open. Applications for the 2025 Resident Sales Tax Rebate must be received by March 15, 2026.

Individuals must be residents of Snowmass Village for the entire 2025 calendar year to qualify for a rebate. Qualified residents must prove residency in Snowmass Village through voter registration. If you are applying as a family, please have both partners sign and fill in all the required dependent information. 

No further proof of residency is required if you are registered to vote in Snowmass Village. If you are not registered to vote, you will be required to upload a copy or photo of one of the following:

1. Driver’s License with a Snowmass Village Address
2. A lease agreement with a Snowmass Village Address

The Town of Snowmass Village has officially adopted updated Short-Term Rental (STR) regulations designed to streamline the renewal process and enhance operational efficiency.

Effective December 30, 2025, the revised STR regulations will simplify the permitting process, improve internal workflows, and establish a clearer renewal timeline for property managers and the lodging community. Notably, trespassing has been added as a major violation, helping to deter STR guests from accessing private property to reach ski areas and other restricted locations.

Key Updates Include:

• Permit Fee Increase: The STR permit fee will increase to $400, effective January 1, 2026.
• Unified Expiration Date: All STR permits will now expire on April 30 annually. To align existing permits with this date, renewals due between January and March 2026 will be assessed prorated fees: 
  • $33.33 for 1-month renewals
  • $66.66 for 2-month renewals
  • $100 for 3-month renewals
  • Starting in April 2026, all renewals (including prorated amounts) will be valid through April 30, 2027, and the standard renewal fee of $400 will apply. Prorated fees will no longer be available after March 2026.
• Trespassing Violation: Trespassing is now classified as a major violation under the updated STR regulations.

The Village Shuttle 2025-26 winter season service schedules begin on Thursday, November 27. Village Shuttle rides may be requested and scheduled using the Village Shuttle app, now available for download.

The Village Shuttle fall season service schedule begins on Thursday, November 27. Schedules may be viewed online: snowmasstransit.com/133/Routes-Schedules. Service changes for the winter season are as follows:

• Route #2 will no longer operate along Wood Rd. Instead, On Request service will be available through the Village Shuttle app from 6:35 a.m. – 12:45 a.m. for the properties along Wood Rd. up to and including Woodrun V. 
• Routes #5 & #6 will now connect directly to Base Village. This will provide a new direct connection between Base Village and the Upper Village properties, Mountain View, and Creekside. 
• Route #6 will no longer serve The Ridge Condominiums. Instead, On Request service will be available through the Village Shuttle App from 6:35 a.m. – 12:45 a.m. for Faraway Rd. up to and including The Ridge Condominiums.
• Route #5 departures from the Snowmass Mall have shifted by 5 minutes to :10, :30, :50 past each hour beginning at 7:10 a.m. 
• Route #6 departures from the Snowmass Mall have shifted by 5 minutes to :15, :35, :55 past each hour beginning at 6:55 a.m. 
• Route #8 departures from the Snowmass Mall have shifted by 5 minutes to :10 and :40 past each hour beginning at 7:10 a.m.

Snowmass Village is also served by several multi-modal options. Multi-use paths run throughout the town, and the Village Shuttle connects to regional transit services provided by Roaring Fork Transit Authority (RFTA).

The John Bemis Community Potluck returns to Snowmass Village on Sunday, November 23, 2025. The free community Thanksgiving potluck will be held from 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Viewline Resort Snowmass.

The John Bemis Community Potluck, a beloved free, community Thanksgiving event for more than 30 years, returns to Snowmass on Sunday, November 23 from 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Viewline Resort Snowmass, Autograph Collection.  

The event began in the late 1980s as a small gathering at the Snowmass Chapel and has grown over the years to include 500+ people. Doors and a cash bar open at 4:30 p.m., the community welcome takes place at 5:00 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:15 p.m.  

As in the past, the menu includes turkey, baked ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole, roasted squash and carrots, plus rolls, and cranberry sauce. Community members are encouraged to bring a dish to share. Last names beginning A-K, are asked to bring a side/salad; L-Z last names should bring a dessert. In addition, all are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the local non-profit Harvest For Hunger.  Recommended items include canned and boxed stews, chili, soup, nuts, pasta, sauce, peanut butter, tuna, oatmeal, rice, beans, and macaroni & cheese.

During a regular meeting on November 3, 2025, the Town Council voted unanimously to adopt the 2026 Annual Budget for the Town of Snowmass Village.

During a regular meeting on November 3, the Town Council approved the 2026 Annual Budget. This action culminates a several-month process with contributions from all departments, numerous employees, the Financial Advisory Board, and three public meetings.

The 2026 Budget has been developed with an emphasis on the Town Council’s Strategic Priorities. The 2026 Budget totals $177 million and features the following highlights:

• An investment in employees through competitive wages and benefits. New positions were added in the Town Manager’s Office and Human Resources. 
• An investment in infrastructure with $129 million in capital projects, including the Draw Site Employee Housing Project, the Little Red Schoolhouse, the roundabout project at Brush Creek Road & Owl Creek Road, and the Villas North Exterior Remodel project. 
• Continued investment towards the Town’s environmental goals, including funding for building electrification & efficiency studies, feasibility of fleet electrification, wildfire mitigation, and waste diversion.
• Exploring and investing in the community through increased engagement and finding ways for community members to thrive, not just survive.

The Town of Snowmass Village annually appoints volunteers to its ten boards & committees. Some of the Town's boards require special qualifications such as residency, or technical expertise. There may be other qualifications required for membership on some boards but for the most part, the volunteer boards have a cross-section of community members willing to give of their time and particular talents. The Town Council reviews the applications and makes the appointments to boards and commissions.

The Town of Snowmass Village, the Wildfire Collaborative Roaring Fork Valley, and Roaring Fork Fire Rescue are launching a wildfire risk modeling project in Snowmass Village that will help the community better understand its exposure to wildfire and identify the most effective steps to protect homes and neighborhoods.

At the center of the effort is the AGNI-NAR model (Asynchronous Graph Nexus Infrastructure for Network Assessment of Wildland-Urban Interface Risk), developed by Dr. Hussam Mahmoud, Craig E. Philip Endowed Chair of Engineering, Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Director of the Vanderbilt Center for Sustainability, Energy, and Climate. AGNI-NAR is a graph-theory-based model that represents homes and vegetation as “nodes” in an interconnected network to simulate how fire spreads through both the natural landscape and the built environment. Unlike traditional models, AGNI-NAR simulates how a fire could move through both the landscape and the built environment— as influenced by details such as wind speed and direction to capture home-to-home ignition, where embers will land, and potential evacuation challenges. 

“This model goes beyond predicting flames on a map—it integrates fire behavior, infrastructure vulnerability, and community layout to simulate how wildfire interacts with the built environment and open space fuel,” said Dr. Hussam Mahmoud. “By combining this science with local data from homeowners, Snowmass Village will gain a clear, evidence-based understanding of which areas and structures are most vulnerable — and which mitigation strategies will most effectively reduce risk.”

The model has been scientifically validated against real-world fire events, including California’s 2018 Camp Fire and Colorado’s 2021 Marshall Fire, showing an impressive 85% accuracy in predicting the path of wildfire and the resulting damage.

“This project puts Snowmass Village at the forefront of wildfire resilience,” said Alyssa Shenk, Mayor of Snowmass Village. “The results will give us clear, science-based guidance on which wildfire resiliency projects will most effectively protect our community. That information is critical as we work with the Wildfire Collaborative and Roaring Fork Fire to make decisions and invest in the work needed to reduce wildfire risk.”

Snowmass Village residents are encouraged to participate by completing a short survey that collects home-level details, such as roof type, vegetation levels, etc., essential to the model’s accuracy. The more residents who respond, the better the model can reflect the community’s real conditions and produce results that guide effective action. Over the coming weeks, HOA and community meetings across Snowmass Village will help build awareness and ensure broad participation in the data collection effort.

“Snowmass Village faces some of the highest wildfire risk in the Roaring Fork Valley, with homes and forests intertwined,” said Angie Davlyn, Executive Director of the Wildfire Collaborative Roaring Fork Valley. “The Wildfire Collaborative is putting advanced wildfire modeling at the center of our work, because it gives communities like Snowmass a data-based roadmap for action. Out of this project, the Town will have a clear understanding of the wildfire mitigation strategies—such as fire breaks and strategic fuels reduction—that will best protect residents and neighborhoods, and then we can work together to put those measures in place.”

The Collaborative and Dr. Mahmoud’s team are also conducting similar modeling in Marble and in the Three Mile and Four Mile areas of Glenwood Springs. While Dr. Mahmoud is working with communities across the country, the Roaring Fork Valley projects are at the forefront of this science because they are the first in the nation to integrate evacuation planning into wildfire modeling alongside building damage and mitigation strategies.

“The risk is real, and the stakes are high,” added John Mele, Fire Marshall of Roaring Fork Fire Rescue. “This model gives us a science-based tool to understand how wildfire could move through Snowmass Village and to prioritize the actions that will have the biggest impact. Community participation is essential to making it work.”

The project is part of a broader effort by the Wildfire Collaborative Roaring Fork Valley, a regional partnership formed in 2022 to unite fire agencies, local governments, and community organizations around a shared strategy for wildfire resilience. By combining science, collaboration, and on-the-ground action, the Collaborative is helping communities like Snowmass identify the highest-impact mitigation projects and move them forward.

The lottery for Gold & Senior Parking Permits for the 2025/2026 winter season is now open.

The lottery allows an opportunity for residents outside of the Town of Snowmass Village to receive parking for the winter season in the numbered lots along Carriage Way. The number of available Gold & Senior Parking Permits is 100 for the season (15 gold/85 senior). Senior Parking Permits are restricted to non-residents of Snowmass Village, 70 years of age and older, regardless of whether you have held a Senior Parking Permit previously. Gold permits are available to non-residents of Snowmass Village, of any age.

Gold & Senior Parking Permits are available to non-residents of Snowmass Village through a lottery system. As of November 27, 2025, Senior Parking Permits are restricted to those 70 years of age and older, regardless of whether you have held a Senior Parking Permit previously. Those drawn in the lottery for a Senior Parking Permit must bring proof of age to the Transportation Office (located at 51A Elbert Lane).

The 2025 lottery will consist of the available 85 Senior Parking Permits and 15 Gold Parking Permits. A lottery for each permit type will be held on September 22, 2025. You may only enter one of the two lotteries. The winners of each lottery will be contacted by phone and/or email. Please do not call for lottery results.

Both Gold and Senior permitholders can have up to three vehicles listed on the permit, but only one vehicle on the permit may be parked in the designated lots on any given day. 

Senior Parking Permits cost $325, and Gold Parking Permits cost $650. Permits must be paid by Thursday, October 2, 2025, or the permit will be issued to the next eligible entrant.

The Town of Snowmass Village has officially adopted updated outdoor lighting regulations aimed at improving energy efficiency and minimizing impacts on the community.

The revised lighting code, which went into effect on September 17, 2025, reflects the Town’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, safety, and environmental stewardship. Key updates include:

• Limits on color temperature and brightness to reduce glare and light pollution.
• New requirements for shielding and direction of outdoor lights to prevent unnecessary upward or outward illumination.
• Design standards for commercial, residential, and municipal properties, ensuring consistency and compliance across the community.
• Specific guidelines for holiday and decorative lighting, including permitted hours and acceptable fixture types.

In addition to environmental benefits, the updated code helps improve nighttime visibility and public safety while reducing energy costs.

The Lighting Code revisions enhance the Town’s character and livability, prevent non-compliant outdoor lighting, reduce lighting conflicts between property owners, prevent the increase of sky glow, and preserve the naturally dark sky for the benefit of residents, visitors, and wildlife. The revisions use a lumen-based metric in lieu of the previously utilized watt-based metric to better accommodate advancements in lighting technology. Property owners are encouraged to review their current lighting setups and make adjustments as needed to ensure compliance.

Fire restrictions are lifted, but fire safety is year-round.

Pitkin County, in coordination with regional fire officials, has officially lifted Stage 1 Fire Restrictions following recent improvements in local conditions. While this is a positive step, wildfire danger never fully disappears in our region, and community-wide vigilance remains essential.

Beginning June 2 through September 21, residents and visitors of Snowmass Village can enjoy expanded transit service seven days a week, from 6:45 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., thanks to the State of Colorado’s Zero Fare for Better Air Program.

During this period, the Snowmass Village Shuttle will offer free curb-to-curb service across all accessible, public, paved roads within the Town of Snowmass Village. Riders can request rides via the Village Shuttle App, making it easier than ever to get around town without the hassle of parking or driving.

Curb-to-curb service means the shuttle will pick up passengers near the bottom of their driveways or designated accessible locations. Passengers should be prepared to enter and exit the vehicle independently.

Fixed Routes Still in Operation:

Town Council invites all members of the public to provide feedback on the Draw Site Workforce Housing Project during the regular Town Council meeting on May 19 at 4:00 p.m.

The Draw Site Workforce Housing project is currently in design! In November 2024, Snowmass Village voters authorized, by a vote of 61% in favor and 39% opposed, a housing development of up to approximately $86 million and up to 79 units. The current design includes one building and 63 units in the “Draw Site”, a parcel of land immediately uphill from Town Hall. There are 275 Snowmass Village employees on the town’s list waiting for an apartment.

Why Build Housing at the Draw Site?

• The Town's Comprehensive Plan identified a need for 383 additional workforce housing units to meet the demand.

• During the November 2024 General Election, Snowmass Village voters approved a ballot question authorizing funding for the Draw Site project.
