Town Council Thanks Market for their Service to Snowmass

Posted on March 17, 2014 at 4:31 PM by Kelly Vaughn

The Village Market will be closing its doors in April after more than thirty years of doing business in Snowmass Village.

Over the last three decades the market has provided great service to the community, quality products, and sponsorship and support of area events.

To thank the Village Market, Town Council--by resolution--expressed their gratitude.

After passing this Resolution, Council received an update from owners of Clark's Market, who gave an update on their new store with an expected opening in early June.

Prior to opening, Clark's will open a small 1,400 square foot convenience store in Base Village, providing the essentials. Once the main store in the Snowmass Center opens, the Base Village location will be a "Clark's Convenience" store selling snacks and other grab-n-go items. Town Council expressed concern over parking for the Base Village location.

The design for the new store calls for a significant expansion of the space (taking over the space currently occupied by Sundance Liquor, who is moving to the space next door), addition of specialty items, delivery, and a virtual pharmacy.

To view the resolution and presentation, view the Council meeting online, and select "Public Non-Agenda Items" on the right.

The sad thing is that you had to pass this resolution at all. You should have had the guts to block the change and keep a wonderful institution in our community. Shame!
