Two Snowmass Village businesses recently participated in the Waste Free Roaring Fork Cup Challenge, a valley-wide effort to reduce waste and build public awareness on the importance of the local environment.
The following is an update on results from Waste Free Roaring Fork:
Waste Free Roaring Fork would like to thank the participating coffee shops: Bonfire Coffee and Dos Gringos in Carbondale; Saxy's Cafe in Basalt, Starbucks at the Westin and Fuel in Snowmass Village, Frank Thirion's French Pastry Cafe at the ABC and in Aspen, Ink! Coffee, Peach's Cafe, Paradise Bakery, Spring Cafe, and Starbucks Coffee in Aspen.
Over the course of the 5 days, these 13 shops:
- Reduced 2,095 paper cups
- Avoided 524 pounds of CO2 emissions
If the Cup Challenge continued for the rest of the year:
- These shops could avoid 38,252 lbs of CO2
- Save 58.4 trees
- Avoid over a ton (literally) of waste
