Snowmass celebrates 32 years of Fat Tuesday

Posted on February 24, 2014 at 3:57 PM by Kelly Vaughn

On March 4, 2014, Snowmass celebrates 32 years of Fat Tuesday revelry with the biggest Mardi Gras bash in the mountains. From a mid afternoon madcap parade to a free concert, this authentic fete offers Cajun fun for all ages. The event is produced in association with Jazz Aspen Snowmass.

The main event of the celebration is undoubtedly a performance by The Pimps of Joytime, a funky Brooklyn-based band. Their diverse sound and spirited attitude is strongly influenced by the Brooklyn DJ culture and live music scene from which they emerge. Preview their music before the show!

The 2014 Schedule of Events includes:
  • 7 a.m. Mother of All Ascensions Race at Snowmass mountain
  • 3 p.m. Bead Toss
  • 3-5 p.m. Street performers
  • 4 p.m. Parade on the Mall
  • 5-7 p.m. Pimps of Joytime perform in Base Village

The theme to this year's parade is "Voodoo Like we Do," with $1,000 in cash prizes! If you're a local business or organization, or just a family or group looking to have some fun and win some cash, we definitely encourage you to enter a float. Download a float application online, and submit before February 28, 2014 to Dave Elkan.
