During the July 7 Town Council meeting, Director of Community Development Julie Ann Woods laid out a process to jump start master planning for the Entryway to Snowmass site, a process that was stalled by the economic recession in 2008.
Community and stakeholder participation will be central to the plan's success.
The "Entryway" is used to describe the site that currently houses Town Park, the Recreation Center, and Rodeo Arena Area--and surrounding area. A map is available on our website
According to Woods, while staff plans to reference all the work that has been done in the past, a great deal has changed. New economic realities and evolving community priorities are both good reasons to re-initiate the process to test past assumptions, as well as see if new ideas come to the table.
The 2013 Community Survey for example provided a great foundational understanding of community priorities based on the site's spatial constraints. Now, a team of town staff members, stakeholders, and the community-at-large will continue to flesh out plans and priorities through a variety of public meetings to be announced.
