The Public Works Department consists of four main divisions including Road, Fleet, Parks & Trails and Solid Waste. The responsibility of the Public Works Department is to maintain 25 miles of paved and single track trails, 37 miles of paved roads, 74 vehicles and the collection of solid waste and recycle goods.

*ROAD WEIGHT LIMITS IN EFFECT*
All vehicles, construction or otherwise, must not exceed 40,000 Pounds GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) on town roadways between March 15 and June 15 of every year. To obtain a weight limits exemption application please see below on this web page under "Weight Limits Exemption Application" to download a PDF application or contact the Public Works Department at 923-5110 or the Police Department at 923-5330. Please be advised that some residential subdivisions (homeowners associations) hold their own restrictions and regulations on weight limits.

"PULL 4 COLORADO"-NOXIOUS WEED INTOLERANCE DAY
Noxious Weed Intolerance Day will occur on Saturday, July 12, 2008, and will consist of three concurrent events in each of the three municipalities (Town of Basalt, Town of Snowmass Village & City of Aspen) in Pitkin County. Each event will consist of: a noxious weed tour, community weed pull, ID contest (with prizes) and a barbecue. Each participant will receive a copy of Noxious Weeds of Colorado as well as a variety of brochures and printed information. The focus of the day will be on teaching attendees to identify a variety of noxious weeds in the area and developing a sense of teamwork through a community weed pull on public lands. JUNIOR RANGER PROGRAM RETURNS FOR ANOTHER YEAR
The Town of Snowmass Village is looking for young people, ages 14-17, who are interested in working on a trail maintenance crew for a 4-week work session beginning June 23, 2008 through July 18, 2008.
