Life Guard

Senior Planner

A revitalization of Snowmass Village is underway with unprecedented commercial and residential development and the Town is currently conducting a targeted update of the Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Department is seeking a highly skilled individual with the ability to performs professional and complex planning work including the review of major developments and long range planning projects including updating the comprehensive plan. This individual will be responsible for providing professional planning analysis of development projects determining consistency with all applicable adopted PUD plans, codes and standards, identifying related issues, and providing substantive recommendations to the Planning Director, Planning Commission or Town Council.
Necessary abilities include providing pro-active project management in a team-based environment, effective report writing, public speaking/presentation skills, customer service, and interpretation of codes and regulations in the field of planning and zoning. The planner may also be involved in long range planning projects including updating the comprehensive plan.
Requires a bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or closely related field (AICP preferred) and three years experience in local government planning, or an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education and experience.

PAYROLL AND BENEFITS MANAGER

 

 
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  
Under general supervision of the Finance Director, performs technical payroll, benefit and accounting procedures. Consults with and advises employees on eligibility for benefits. Maintains benefit records and prepares documents to implement benefit coverage. Prepares and processes the Town’s payroll. Maintains payroll/personnel records. Maintains accounts requiring analysis, balances against other accounts.
 
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Responsible for benefit administration including, but not limited to health insurance, dental, vision, life and long-term disability benefits, retirement plans, police pension plans and recreation benefits. Adds new employees, terminates employees, makes dependent and beneficiary changes and salary changes. Reconciles monthly insurance bills to Town excel worksheet and follows up on back charges and adjustments. Reconciles and remits payments to Town’s retirement and police pension plans to bi-weekly payroll records. Reconciles year-end retirement and police pension plans for audit.
 
Processes the Towns bi-weekly payroll. Adds new employees and terminations. Ensures all appropriate documents are signed by all parties before adding to the payroll system. Makes changes in computer file records, reviews and enters data input for all master file changes. Reviews, corrects and enters data from employee time sheets. Prints hours proof listing and payroll register and checks for accuracy against time sheets and other data. Responsible to have checks signed.
 
Reconciles general ledger accounts related to payroll accounts, liabilities and benefits. Posts payroll financial data including payroll, benefits and taxes to appropriate accounts. Prepares journal entries and post in computer system. 
 
Prepares accounts and records for year-end close. Prepares audit working papers for external auditors and interacts with external auditors.
 
Regularly updates the Finance Director on any problems with payroll or personnel issues. Assists the Finance Director in pay and classification study’s and health insurance renewals.
 
Updates employee job descriptions as approved by the Finance Director.
 
Deposits checks to local financial institutions and distributes payroll checks or stubs to employees. Monitors vacation, sick, comp and personal time hour balances. 
 
Maintains up-to-date payroll documentation; sets up payroll master files for all employees; manages and administers all personnel files.
 
Stays abreast of all FLSA and other legislative changes and institutes those changes to keep the Town current. Responsible for COBRA and HIPPA administration. 
 
Researches payroll discrepancies and prepares and processes receivables documentation as appropriate.
 
Responsible for meeting all deadlines in preparing checks and reports for payroll deductions and contributions to outside vendors. 
 
Responsible for bi-weekly federal and state tax deposits. Prepares quarterly (941) reports and State Unemployment. Responsible for year-end W-2 preparation and the corresponding reporting to State and Federal agencies. 
 
Maintains records on worker’s compensation and prepares records for annual worker compensation audit.
 
Assists department and division heads, as appropriate, with procedural understanding and application of payroll and personnel policies. Reviews employee handbook regularly and offers suggestions for changes to the handbook to the Finance Director.
 
Conducts new employee orientations. Responds to salary surveys.
 
Maintains strict confidentiality.
 
Performs other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Must be able to work independently and prioritize workload in an efficient manner.
Knowledge of computer equipment and office skills required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Maintain effective working relationships with employees. Understanding and ability to work spreadsheets and computer applications. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to analyze. Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures. Knowledge of all relevant payroll, employment, and payroll tax laws, procedures and regulations.
 
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: 
Any combination of experience and training equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in accounting, business or human resources in correlation with a minimum of two years in accounting/personnel related field. Experience in payroll, personnel, and general accounting required.
 
SALARY RANGE: 
$21.31 - 27.70 /hr.
 
LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST-Public Works Dept.

The Town of Snowmass Village is seeking an experienced individual to contribute to its exciting momentum by leading the organization’s year-round group sales efforts.  Primary responsibilities include developing & supervising implementation of an annual sales plan; actively managing existing clients and prospecting & selling new accounts; providing leadership, motivation & administration for a National Sales Manager team; and evaluating & reporting results.

Candidate must have exceptional leadership and communication skills, proven success establishing & achieving revenue goals, lodging background, and an understanding of destination mountain resorts.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Directs and helps lead the Town toward its mission of increasing economic vitality to benefit Snowmass Village, as a whole.  Works with the Marketing, Special Events & Group Sales Board (MSE&GSB) on policy-making and strategy for Group Sales.  Acts as primary spokesperson on behalf of the Town for Group Sales activities.  Develops and implements sales and service plans, and manages budget to achieve revenue goals.  Reports to the Director, MSE&GS. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees all administrative and operating functions of the Town’s Group Sales organization.

Advises the Chairman of the Board, the Board and such other committees as designated.

Develops and supervises the implementation of an annual operating and sales plan, in order to promote the destination to new and loyal local, state, regional, national and potentially international group audiences. 

Directs the preparation of the annual budget that supports these activities and presents it to the Town Manager, Director-MSE&GS, Finance Director and Board for approval after review by the Group Sales Advisory Committee.

Attends all Board meetings and attends Town Council meetings as designated.

Establishes and maintains ongoing effective communications with Snowmass businesses and partners, government leaders, business and cultural institution leaders, convention and meeting planners, tour operators and the local tourism industry as appropriate.

Represents the Town at targeted local, state, regional and national conventions and trade shows that serve to foster the betterment of the Town’s Group Sales mission.

Develops and maintains effective organizational policies and ensures all activities are implemented within these established policies, guidelines, laws and ethical standards.

Defines staffing needs and determines proper organizational structure based on industry segments, geography and size for staff and for self. 

Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates assigned personnel.  Coordinates staff training and provides ongoing coaching.  Oversees implementation of discipline and termination procedures for all staff members.
