
Boards and Commissions
There are many ways you can get involved in your local government.
Serving on a Snowmass Village Board or Commission is a wonderful way to
stay engaged in your community while serving its citizens. Here is a
list of Boards or Commissions on which you can serve and a brief
description of their work, and you can download the application here or below under Documents and Publications.
Part-Time Residents Advisory Board
The
goal of the Part Time Residents Advisory Board (PTRAB) is to
communicate various Town projects and information to other part-time
residents of Snowmass Village. To join the PTRAB communication list,

Environmental Advisory Committee
The
Snowmass Village Advisory Committee is a collaborative volunteer group
committed to updating and accomplishing the goals of the Town’s
Environmental Sustainability Plan. The committee will provide technical
expertise and a broad community perspective in order to develop
recommendations concerning projects, programs, policies and operational
practices that will benefit the natural environment, our local economy
and our community. The EAC will serve as an advocacy group to encourage
community participation in these pursuits, and will establish
relationships with other environmental groups in order to access and
leverage support for our efforts.

Planning Commission
The
Planning Commission advises Town Council on all matters related to
growth and development of land in Snowmass Village. This includes, among
others, the location, character and extent of all public
facilities; updates to the Town’s Comprehensive Plan; amendments to the
Zoning Ordinance; rezoning and special exception applications filed
and approvals of final development plans. To view Planning Commission

Arts Advisory Board
The
Arts Advisory Board provides direction for cultural arts initiatives,
acts as a cultural arts advocate and consultant to Town Council,
provides expertise on cultural arts issues, reviews and evaluates
progress of the Arts Advisory Board Strategic Planning Document and
works in cooperation with the Aspen Snowmass Council for the Arts and
any other organization which purports to represent and develop special
cultural events in Town.

Board of Appeals and Examiners
The
Board of Appeals and Examiners shall assist and advise the Building
Official in reviewing applications for contractor’s licenses, the
suspension or revocation of contractor’s licenses and the procedures for
conducting examinations and investigations concerning contractor’s
licenses. The Board has the right to reverse, affirm or modify the
Building Official’s or Fire Chief’s decision upon the application and
interpretation of the building set forth in the Municipal Code.

Local Liquor Authority
The
Local Liquor Authority (LLA) was established in 1980 for the purpose of
having a Board who could over see the processing of liquor license
application for establishments within the boundaries of the Town of
Snowmass Village based upon the State of Colorado’s Liquor Codes, Rules
& Regulations and State of Colorado Statues.

Financial Advisory Board
The
Town of Snowmass Village Financial Advisory Board shall make
recommendations, as requested, to Town Council prior to the adoption of
the budget and capital programs for the Town, and to render such other
recommendations or advice as the Town Council may from time to time
request.

Citizen Grant Review Board
The
Citizen’s Grant Review Board (CGRB) was established in 2000 for the
purpose of having an orderly process in which non-profits in the Roaring
Fork Valley can apply to the Town for grants and in which evaluation
and distribution of grants will be made for the best interests of the
Town and citizens of Snowmass Village.

Marketing, Special Events and Group Sales Board
The
MSEGSB was created for the purposes of: marketing, creation, promotion
and execution of special events and public relations. In addition, the
Board was set up for the development of tourism for the benefit of
Snowmass Village as a whole. The members of the Board shall
collectively possess relevant skills and knowledge in the areas of
marketing, special events, public relations, interpersonal relations,
management and team building. The Board shall carry out its powers and
duties with the express mandate that its decisions be made for the
benefit of Snowmass Village as a whole.
