This is one of two young cows seen foraging around Maroon Lake this summer. Another cow was seen walking on Snowmass Ski Area in July 2011. A bull moose was sighted Sept 10th at 3am near the Snowmass Village Welcome Sign. Moose have migrated from the Grand Mesa and Gunnison relocation sites. Moose have also been seen at Highlands Ski Area, Capital Creek, Crystal River Valley, Highway 82 near the CMC turnoff and Glenwood Canyon.
If you see a moose, keep plenty of distance,
grab your camera and report your sighting
to the Division of Wildlife @970.947-2920.

FEEDING WILDLIFE A LOCAL PROBLEM
RED FOX are regularly fed by LOCALS in Snowmass Village and this is detrimental to the animal. You may cause a bite to a child when the fox returns for a handout. Wildlife can carry rabies which is fatal to humans. All wildlife must forage naturally to remain vigorous and competitive. Processed food is not healthy and may cause the animal to get sick. Habituated animals will be euthanized. Feeding wildlife is against the law and citations will be issued. Please photograph wildlife – do not feed wildlife.

ANIMAL SERVICES The Town of Snowmass Village employs two full-time Animal Services officers who respond to domestic, wildlife and livestock calls. We also manage a temporary holding facility for animals found in the Village. Exercise is key to a well behaved dog. Please keep your dog under control at all times and on a leash in wildlife corridors and public places. Bear education is an essential aspect of our service to the community. In summer, you may find us hiking on one of the beautiful Village trails.
