Who Are We?

With tourism as the Town’s major industry, the Snowmass Village Police Department balances guest services with its goal of protecting life, preventing crime and delivering public safety services in a manner which fosters a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation between department personnel and the people of the community.

The Snowmass Village Police Department was established in 1978, less than a year after the Town incorporated. Originally instituted as a Marshall’s Office, one of only a few in Colorado, officially changed to the Town of Snowmass Village Police Department in the mid 1980’s. At present the department includes nine sworn Police Officers, including the Chief, two Animal Control Officers, and a Records Specialist.
